Pregnancy refers to the medical condition in which a patient carries one or more embryo or fetus in the uterus. In most instances, childbirth happens after 38 weeks of conception. To confirm that a patient is pregnant, physicians can use a home pregnancy test kit to examine the level of human chorionic gonadotropin. If physicians are not satisfied with the results of the pregnancy test kit, they can perform an obstetric ultrasonography to detect embryo or fetus in the uterus. Blood tests can also be recommended by obstetricians and gynecologists to confirm if the patient is pregnant.

Pregnancy Treatment

To lessen the discomforts felt by pregnant women, they need to consult with their physicians about the effective and proper prenatal care. It is important that they practice a nutritious and balanced diet to ensure that the body parts of the fetus is properly developed. To manage their health condition, pregnant women are commonly advised to do activities that are not strenuous such as walking. To prevent suffering from pre-eclampsia, it is important that they avoid having sexual intercourse during the third trimester. Above all, patients are advised to take the vitamins prescribed by their physicians regularly to ensure their health as well as the health of the fetus.
