6. Avoid Unnatural Light at Night
In order for your melatonin to release the way it should, you have to stay away from unnatural light at night. Two hours before you want to go to bed, avoid screens, including your phone, TV, computer and tablet. If you have to use one of those electronics, turn the screen brightness down. Instead of reading on a tablet, pick up a regular book – the tablet’s backlight could make it hard for you to wind down. Also turn off extraneous lights and only sit in dimly lit rooms. You need to signal to your body that you’re prepping for sleep.
