14. Give Yourself Time to Wind Down
If your bed time is 11 p.m., you can’t expect to hop into bed at 11 and immediately feel tired after running around the house to finish up chores. Start winding down 20, 30 or even 60 minutes before bed time. Create a nighttime ritual, like taking care of hygiene, straightening up the house, prepping for the following day and then reading in bed for a bit. Do the same thing every night. Eventually, your new routine will become an old habit and your brain will know that when you go through those steps, it’s getting close to bed time.
